An afternoon on the lake

You've caught up on your homework, you're tired of walking, and all you really want is somewhere to relax and enjoy the sun.

Sound familiar? We came across a similar feeling yesterday afternoon as we contemplated what more we could do in the city of New York. Fortunately for us, Central Park is full of secrets and hidden treasures. The sun was shining, we grabbed our backpacks with blankets and books, and we headed towards our next adventure.

Rowboats

On the East side of Central Park, between 74th and 75th street is the second largest lake in Central Park. Here we rented a rowboat for an hour costing us only $15.00. The boat can fit up to 4 people, which is not bad when dividing the cost. Cash is required, so don't bring your card. The gatekeepers also hold a $20.00 while you are rowing and you can receive it back afterwards by presenting your receipt at the desk.

Therefore, we spent an hour basking in the sun as we rowed to our hearts content. There were definitely some Tangled moments relived and wedding photos being snapped on the shoreline. It was a great way for us to relax and soak in the heat with the water licking the sides of our boat.

Short. Easy. And a great way to enjoy a lazy afternoon.

Afterwards we sprawled out onto a grassy slope and wrote in journals, read books, and even played some volleyball. Central Park is full of wonders and secrets, and we are determined to find all of them.
