Nestled among the luxurious shops that line Fifth Avenue, Saint Patrick's Cathedral adds character and tradition to the iconic street. As it sits on the block between 50th and 51st streets, its open doors, vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows draw over five million visitors each year.
Worshippers and visitors seeking solace can find peace within the electric, busy city as they step inside the marble walls each day. Greeters kindly welcome those of all faiths. Anyone can enter the place of worship.
The Neo-Gothic cathedral, designed by architect James Renwick, was finished in 1879. Renovations have since been made, the most current of which began in 2012 and ended in 2015, just before the arrival of Pope Francis.
