Alice in Central Park

Disney lovers won't be disappointed as they wander into their own wonderland in Central Park.

George Delacorte commissioned a bronze statue of the famous Alice in Wonderland as a gift to the children of New York City. This giant bronze statue is located on the East side of Central Park at 75th Street. Sitting atop bronze mushrooms with the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter along side her, Alice sits, almost beckoning for children to come near her. Passersby can frequently find people stopping to take pictures and children crawling on top of the mushrooms to sit on Alice's lap.

In reality, this bronze statue was meant as a tribute to Delacorte's late wife, Margarita, who read Alice to her children. One can also find excerpts of Delacorte's erratic poem, The Jabberwocky, engraved around the statue.

The wonderland of Alice lives on in Central Park and is continually drawing disney-lovers into her presence.
