Herald Square is located at the intersection of Broadway, Avenue of The Americas, and 34th Street. Being at the intersection of these three main streets in New York, this area is usually always busy and popular. From restaurants, to shops there's one peaceful little square where people can sit and eat, talk, or catch up with old friends and that square is Herald Square.

Herald Square was named after The New York Herald, a former popular newspaper that its building right there. The New York Herald began in 1835 by James Bennett Sr, and became one of the most popular newspapers in New York. James Bennett Sr handed his business over to his son James Bennett Jr and he ran it until he died in 1924. After his death The Herald was bought by the New York Tribune. The square stands as a remembrance of this paper and the building that was here once long ago.

The square contains the huge mechanical clock from the building along with stone owls. The clock has two bronze men working and every hour the clock chimes and these workers look like they are ringing the bell. The owls throughout the square are special because at night their eyes light up! They were the guardians of the building and were something unique to the New York buildings at that time. Be sure to check this out, and see how many owls you can spot throughout the square!

One place to check out why you're here is Waffles and Dinges, they have the yummiest waffles. Me and Quincy got the De Boom which is a waffle with nutella, strawberries, whip cream, and ice cream. It is so worth all the calories and is a must eat in New York.
