Where to Chow Down in Greenwich Village

We planned a large majority of our time in the city around where we were going to eat. There's no shortage of delicious places to eat in New York City. Just scratching the surface of the restaurant scene feels is impossible, but we're going to give it a go.

Pommes Frites
Located at: 128 Macdougal St.
I am the biggest fry lover. Fries, fries, fries all the time, please. The only thing on their menu is fries, specifically double cooked authentic Belgian frites to be exact. They claim their frites to be crunchy on the outside, soft inside. They definitely weren't wrong. These fries were the perfect combination of both that I have found in my life, and I've eaten a lot of fries. What Pommes Frites is really popular for however, is all of their specialty sauces. There are twenty eight options of sauces to accompany your Belgian frites, which almost makes it impossible to choose. There's everything from barbeque to blue cheese to wasabi mayo and on and on. I recommend getting the Vietnamese Pineapple Mayo, and according to the workers it's their most popular sauce.

Artichoke Pizza
Located at: 111 Macdougal St.
If you're not in the mood for fires you can literally just walk right across the street to get some amazing pizza. This place is raved about all over the villages. It's a little bit pricier according to New York standards at around $5 a slice but locals sure don't seem to mind. Trust us and take a chance on the pizza, you won't regret it!
You can also watch out for nearby locations in East Village and Chelsea.

Big Gay Ice Cream Shop
Located at: 61 Grove St.
We stumbled upon Big Gay in Greenwich completely by accident and talk about a happy moment! In our six weeks we filled out a punch card so to say we love this place would be an understatement. Apparently the ice cream shop rakes up quite a line during the summer months so take advantage of a spring visit, or two, or ten while you're at it. On our first trip my heart was set on the Salty Pimp (vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche infused into the cone, salt, and dipped in chocolate). Salt on ice cream is a far too understated of a trend if you ask me because IT IS SO DELICIOUS. It enhances all of the flavors and wow my mouth is salivating now. Since I knew I loved the Salty Pimp so much it made it difficult to branch out and try something new. The Mermaid sundae (vanilla ice cream, key lime pie curd, pie crust, and whip cream) is perfection if you happen to be a key lime pie lover like myself. For some reason their ice cream tastes better in the sundaes than the cones. It seems to be more fluffy and creamy, although I'm not exactly sure why.
