Roaming the streets of Manhattan’s Lower East Side is no walk in the park. With broken streets, uneven concrete, and rundown shops…let’s just say this neighborhood has seen many seasons.

But amidst all the graffiti and worn-down buildings, the welcoming neighborhood gardens and positive affirmations posted on walls and in various shop windows are just as obvious. While the characteristics may not seem positive, the Lower East Side vibe certainly is.

These subtle yet heartwarming messages encourage hope in a world that isn’t all cronuts, thin crust pizza, and show tunes.
