Macy's Department Store

If you love shopping Macy’s Herald Square Department Store is the place for you. This store is located right next to Harold Square on 34th Street. This store takes shopping to a whole new level, it’s completely different from any Macy’s you ever seen it’s a mini mall. This store has 11 floors and retails over 740 different designer brands. I’ve never seen a Macy’s like this, they organize everything by the designers brand and makes it look more organized.

Macy’s Herald Square Department Store first opened up in 1902 and just consisted of one little building. Over time the store expanded and took over the whole block. The store is now 2.2 million square feet and once was the World's largest Department Store! It held the reign of largest Department Store from 1924-2009. This is the most popular and important Macy’s store, it brings in thousands of customers and gives them a luxurious experience.

Macy’s Herald Square is also known for their holiday celebrations, the first is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. This parade began in 1924 and has been one of the most iconic thing Macy has done. The parade takes place every year and the main stage for T.V. coverage is right outside the store's entrance. This parade is watched by millions every year, in fact watching this parade is one of my Thanksgiving Day traditions. The other holiday celebration they are known for is their holiday window displays. Each year they come up with a new theme and decorate their six window displays on the Broadway side of their store.

Each window is unique with characters, props, animations, and holiday magic. These windows attract thousands of people during the holidays. These holiday celebrations are a big part of Macy’s so if you are around when these happen I would definitely check them out!

This store was incredible, I could spend days in here. It’s every girl's shopping dream the whole place looks like the stores you see in the movies. My favorite part of the store was the makeup department, I love makeup and to see all the different brands and stands made my heart skip a beat. They had all my favorite brands and I got to try out the products! I will definitely be back! This store has everything you need the hottest new clothes, gifts, makeup, home stuff, and a food court!
