Midtown Comics

With so many big time stores and corporations taking over Midtown, Midtown Comics stands out amongst its surrounding stores. With this post, we wanted to shift our focus from the main attractions of Midtown to the smaller, more novelty parts of midtown that give it its flair and spunk. In order to stand as a representation of the many interesting shops in Midtown, we picked Midtown Comics to represent this sort of novelty store aspect of the Midtown area as a whole.

Midtown Comics is a unique comic book store located on 40th and 7th street. The store provides a place for avid comic book fans to go to keep their collections up to par and for the regular person to buy the latest superhero knickknacks and memorabilia. The staff there are all very knowledgeable and very passionate about comics.

The store has a steady stream of customers and they all seem to leave very satisfied with their purchases. It is awesome that this store manages to stay afloat and thriving, while big bookstore chains contend for their customers.

The manager for over 19 years at Midtown Comics was kind enough to let Lexi and I ask him a few questions for this particular blog post. We wanted to interview Jerry because he was so happy and enthusiastic about his business, something we hadn't seen in some of the larger stores and restaurants that we visited in the area. Here is what Jerry had to say about Midtown Comics:

All in all, I have to say that stores like Midtown Comics are fascinating and definitely worth a peek inside. I would recommend that you all try to experience and take advantage of the little stores like Midtown Comics that give New York its flavor. Don;t knock them until you try them! Give stores run by awesome people like Jerry a chance! :)
