We found this beach completely by accident! But it was easily one of my favorite places in all of New York City! We were trying to get Pelham Bay Park and wound of here instead. To get to Orchard Beach all you need to is take the 6 on the green line all the way to the last stop called Pelham Bay Park. Then all you need to do is go down this ramp to cross the street:

Then hop on a bus that is going to Orchard Beach. It will say on it : Orchard Beach. Simple enough.

We loved this beach because it wasn't crowded at all! It seemed that all the people there were locals. It is not very touristy at all! The beach was beautiful and clean and the water wasn't even too cold. I'm not a beach expert but I would say the beach was on the smaller side, but it's big enough to have a good time. Before we left we saw a beautiful swan. It was really nice to be out the hustle and bustle of the city.
