Art in the City

Chelsea wasn't always the cool place that it is. It used to be kind of seedy since it was so close to the docks and all the workers were hanging around. Eventually art galleries began to move into the area and that influx helped make the area nice as it is today. Emily and I talked with a few employees in local Chelsea galleries about their thoughts on Chelsea and how art has influenced the area and also just the artists that are currently exhibiting in their galleries. Here are some of the highlights from those conversations.

The galleries we went to were the Pace, Paula Cooper, Fredericks & Freiser, and Gagosian Galleries. There are many other in the area though, so just go walk around and see what cool art you can find!

Side Note - Here is a website Chelsea Galleries that you can go to to find what is open and the times and see what they are exhibiting if wandering around isn't your thing.
