New York Botanical Gardens
The New York Botanical Gardens are a must see for all visitors to New York. Located in the Bronx conveniently only a 15 minute bus ride from the Bronx Zoo, the 250 acre grounds are decorated with everything from beautiful rose gardens to small cascading waterfalls. Unlike the botanical gardens in Brooklyn, the New York Botanical Gardens feel more spread-out and a little more wild. My favorite part was definitely the Rockefeller Rose Garden. It felt like something right out of a fairy tale with its little overgrown pavilion and walls of roses. The day we went they were preparing for the 125 anniversary so we saw people practicing dancing for their festivities and it was so fun!
On regular days, the gardens 20$ for adults and 18$ for students, however if you go on Wednesdays then admission is free. There are portions of the garden that are excluded from the free admission, but we saw enough to satisfy us.
(The Bronx Zoo is also free on Wednesdays so it would be fun to go to both on the same day for free)
