St. Mark's Place, a street that runs from Astor Place all the way to Tompkins Square Park is in East Village. It was named after St. Mark's Church in the Bowery. The street is filled with a variety of different cultural infusions. The street has thrift shops, record stores, and a variety of different culturally infused restaurants. From Falafel sandwich's to chocolate egg cream, to sushi and the infamous Crif Dog's hot dogs. You'll never get bored here because the street alone has so much to offer!

During the 19th century, German immigrants populated S. Mark's Place. By the 20th century though, the German community on St. Mark's Place began to dwindle, but Jewish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, and Russian immigrants began populating St. Mark's. By the 20th century, it became a well known "hippie" spot on the East Coast. Now in the 21st century, St. Mark's Place persists in its uniqueness in comparison to any other neighborhood.
