East Village is more of a residential neighborhood in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It is known for its hipster vibes during the day, a variety of must try restaurants, and vibrant night life. It is home to many NYU students, small families, and a crowd of people in their mid 20's.
Given its history, East Village is well known for its music scene. Whether it be famous artists such as the Beastie Boys and The Strokes having their starts in East Village, to today and the variety of record stores, or concerts held at Webster hall, music has always been important to East Village.
Just as the music scene is ever popular, so is the art scene. You can find murals on just about every street corner.
