Second Avenue Subway Line

The new subway line, which is an expansion of the Q-line, is the first major subway expansion for the city in over 50 years. The first phase, which connects 63rd street to 96th street, is scheduled to be completed in December 2016. When the line is completely finished, it will run from 125th street in Harlem to Hanover Square in Lower Manhattan. New Yorkers are excited for the expansion and the much needed line for commuters. However, for business owners on Second Avenue, this new line has been a long time coming. Beginning in 2007, the construction has gone on for years and has discouraged consumers from visiting the shops along Second Avenue. We interviewed the owner of Dawa 91, a deli on the corner of 91st and Second Avenue, and asked him what his thoughts were on the new line and how it has affected his business.
