Subway Orientation
Friday--our first full day in New York will start with a Subway orientation. You'll receive your 30-day unlimited subway pass (don't lose it--these ones cannot be replaced). And we'll try a few stops to get you feeling comfortable. We'll meet in the lobby.
In preparation, please watch this brief video of a New Yorker showing you the ropes. You might also check out this Beginner's Guide to Navigating the New York Subway and since we're studying history I'd like you to read the Wikipedia entry on the subway and explore this site.
In case we lose any of you, here's the brief tour we'll take:
At 86th Street take the downtown 4, 5, or 6 to 59th Street;
transfer to the downtown F train; get off at 47-50 St-Rockefeller Center;
Take the downtown B, D, F, or M train to Bryant Park;
