Walking tour: Lower east side

The Lower east side was and continues to be historically a neighborhood of immigrants.It has everything from tenement buildings, to Jewish synagogues. It is a neighborhood of history and diversity. It is known to have a lively night scene and great food (Essex Street Market and Hester Street Fair are said to be worthwhile). Take the self guided tour and try the food while you're there.
