Group activity: Empire State Building

For nearly 40 years, until the World Trade Center emerged in 1970, this was the world's tallest building. On Thursday, June 2, we'll pay a visit to the 86th floor observatory of this beautiful Art Deco landmark.

Erected at the dawn of the Great Depression, it was initially considered a mistake. Not only was its timing considered a mistake, so was its location. For years it lacked tenants and was nicknamed the "Empty State Building."

The building has a long, strange history that includes everything from its failed dirigible docking station, to a a plane crashing into it.

Let's meet in the North Lobby at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. You can either choose to go with the group at that time, or collect your ticket and go at a time of your choosing.
