All governments lie
"All governments lie," the iconoclastic investigative journalist I.F. Stone famously wrote in 1967.
Whether you regard that as dangerously pessimistic or uncommonly prescient, it is widely accepted that Stone is a father to modern-day muckraking.
Last year, a film about Stone and investigative journalism today debuted at film festivals. This month it makes its way to Utah. "All Government's Lie" will be shown on Wednesday, February 8, at 7:00 p.m. in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Theater in Salt Lake City. Admission is free and following the screening KUER's Doug Fabrizio will interview the film's director.
Incidentally, Stone's All Governments Lie is still in print and available on Amazon. And if you'd like to know more about him, you can check out his biography, American Radical: The Life and Times of I.F. Stone.
