Shooting Parts Unknown

My favorite thing to watch on CNN—maybe they only thing I like to watch on CNN (other than Brian Stelter's show, Reliable Sources)—is Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown. It's a culinary-travel show that's immensely entertaining. If you've not seen it, you must check it out. My wife and I will watch him on Sunday nights, then binge-watch the reruns.

A man with a colorful background ("First We Feast" has a descriptive profile, but not BYU-approved—so sorry, no link), Bourdain is witty, blunt, insightful and his show is addicting. But of particular interest to this class is the videography. In a word: outstanding.

Here's a video podcast where the Bourdain's videographer, Zach Zamboni (I wonder whether he likes hockey), talks about his work. Topics covered include:

  • Staying inspired and keeping it fresh

  • The secrets behind Zach’s favorite episodes

  • Zach’s shooting and lighting philosophy

  • How to inspire a creative process that changes week to week

  • The equipment needed for easy travel around the world

  • Stories from some of the most interesting places on earth

  • Working with Anthony Bourdain

  • and much more!

Note: skip ahead 4 and half minutes, past the introduction, to get to the podcast itself.
